We made sure that the client and whanau are always involved in all levels of care in order to produce and promote effective care planning that suits his needs and desires while rehabilitating him. I was able to fulfil all their allocated responsibilities in accordance with the social worker’s role in the residential care plan such as assessing, planning, intervening, and evaluating. It is important to have an ongoing contact by the whanau throughout the stay of the client in the facility with accordance with the residents plan. Providing contact plan for the resident to know if the whanau comes during the desired day to visit. We facilitated the contact through regular visitation, telephone call if the family is unable to come personally and planned joint meetings with residential staff. Supervision and custodial care of the resident is carried out according to the plan and residential requirements such as secure environment and making sure that the family have a regular visit to the client. We also made sure that legislative requirements are followed, health and safety management is implemented and behavioural management is noted. As a healthcare provider I encourage self-determination through engaging the client in making the plan to fulfill their identified roles and take ownership of these roles. I made sure that I am promoting client’s self determination by outlining agency’s objectives and appropriate legislation. Notifying client and whanau regarding the restrictions and extent of the meeting and allowing them to identify the best options. Mostly, working collaboratively with the family to discover a focus where agency mandate and whanau choices aren’t aligning. I did a completion of checklist wherein I reviewed his objectives and tick the list of implemented actions that was successfully done and kept accurate records of conversation and meetings. Also regular check of hi placement wether it is secured and safe from triggers like addiction and bad peers. Regarding his wellbeing we made sure that he is regularly checked up by the GP and make sure that all his medication are taken regularly and not lapsing tom cure his current mental illness. Secured his information and made sure that only necessary people can access his file and kept his confidentiality by not disclosing the information that I know from people who are not relevant or helpful in his situation. Definition of Gadsden Purchase The Gadsden Purchase was a strip of territory the United States purchased from Mexico following negotiations in 1853. When Franklin Pierce became president of the United States in 1853, he backed the idea of a railroad that would run from the American South to the West Coast. And it became apparent that the best route for such a railroad would run through northern Mexico. The land to the north of the Gila River, in United States territory, was too mountainous. President Pierce instructed the American minister to Mexico, James Gadsden, to purchase as much territory in northern Mexico as possible. Gadsden, who had worked as a railroad executive in South Carolina, was encouraged to spend up to $50 million to buy as much as 250,000 square miles. Senators from the North suspected that Pierce and his allies had motives beyond simply building a railroad. There were suspicions that the real reason for the land purchase was to add territory in which slavery could be legal. Consequences of the Gadsden Purchase Because of objections of suspicious northern legislators, the Gadsden Purchase was scaled back from the original vision of President Pierce. This was an unusual circumstance where the United States could have obtained more territory but chose not to. Ultimately, Gadsden reached an agreement with Mexico to purchase about 30,000 square miles for $10 million. The treaty between the United States and Mexico was signed by James Gadsden on December 30, 1853, in Mexico City. And the treaty was ratified by the U.S. Senate in June 1854. The controversy over the Gadsden Purchase prevented the Pierce administration from adding any more territory to the United States. So the land acquired in 1854 essentially completed the 48 states of the mainland. Incidentally, the proposed southern rail route through the rough territory of the Gadsden Purchase was partly the inspiration for the U.S. Army to experiment by using camels. The secretary of war and proponent of the southern railway, Jefferson Davis, arranged for the military to obtain camels in the Middle East and ship them to Texas. Douglas, wanted to organize territories through which a more northern railroad could run to the West Coast. I have selected the film â€Å"Elizabeth: the Golden Age† because I became extremely fascinated on why of all the monarchs who have ruled England, she is the monarch that has been included in various forms of literature as well as having an era in England’s history named after her. After selecting the film for this paper, I first watched the entire movie without pausing and just noting down scenes that I considered as the most important. After that I watched the film again carefully so much so that I would pause the film once in a while in order to note down important parts of the film. My next step was to go to the Library and began to study the book â€Å"England’s Elizabeth: an Afterlife in Fame and Fantasy† by Michael Dobson and Nicola J. Watson in order to get a better understanding how authors, poets and filmmakers have depicted Queen Elizabeth I in various forms of literature and productions. The best resource materials I came across were â€Å"Behind the Mask: the Life of Queen Elizabeth I† by Jane Rush Thomas since it gave a very objective outlook on the life of Queen Elizabeth I. In the paper, the summary of the film would first be presented on the paper followed by the presentation of information from resource materials which would either support or challenge certain scenes in the movie, specifically the role of Mary Stuart in the attempted assassination of Queen Elizabeth I and the war between Spain and England. From there a comparison on the accuracy of the depiction of this chapter in the life of Queen Elizabeth I in the film will be analyzed since there were some events shown in the film that appear to contradict historical documentations.

Trafficking in persons has been described as modern day form of slavery. It is a serious human rights violation and is reported by the United Nations to be the fastest growing form of transnational organized crime. Human Trafficking Issues The major issue advocates against human trafficking face is how to educate and help prevent people from falling victim to human trafficking. Many are tricked into trafficking through job offers abroad. Identifying victims of human trafficking can be difficult. Many trafficked victims may have been forced into prostitution or they may have been caught crossing borders illegally, and because of these reasons they are not very free to approach the police. Language barrier might play a role in a victim not being able to seek help and most times traffickers threaten the victims that their families will be harmed if they were to come forward. It is also hard for advocates against trafficking to convince traffickers to leave the occupation because according to U.  N. estimates, trafficking is the third largest illegal industry which generates close to $ 7 billion to $ 10 billion a year. The complex root problems and the limited degree of awareness are factors that make it difficult to fight human trafficking. War, natural disasters, poor social and economic conditions and lack of assistance for victims have helped exacerbate the problem.
